A rapid urbanization in lifestyle, reversal of socioeconomic gradient, tobacco use, changing food habits, alcohol use, occupational stress , physical inactivity and a poor work life balance contribute to development of lifestyle diseases amongst young Indians. An increased number of young Indians are now affected with lifestyle diseases and succumb to them at an early age. Over 61 per cent of all deaths in India are attributed to lifestyle or non-communicable diseases. Learning about lifestyle diseases and how to prevent them is therefore need of the hour.
